T-Shirt Makeover-ed Pillow
Have a t-shirt which isn’t your size or do you need a pillow to beautify your sofa or both? Well, here’s a solution for you! A DIY Pillow from a t-shirt! And don’t worry, this DIY Pillow requires absolutely no stitching! So here’s a simple method to make a beautifully simple pillow in less than an hour.
What are its requirements?
- · A t-shirt or any cloth
- · Cotton or sponge
- · A ruler or measuring tape
- · Scissors
- · Pencil
STEP 1:
Firstly, pick the t-shirt - preferably, one with a nice design, and then draw a square of required measurements and cut the square. So now you have two squares – one from the front and one from the back of the t-shirt.
STEP 2:
Cut out squares of sides 2 inches from all the four corners, from both the square pieces of cloth.
Tip: You can also fold the t-shirt into fours and cut out the 2" square in the corner.
STEP 3:
Keep both the pieces of cloth one above the other and start cutting tiny strips which are around ½ inches wide and 2 inches long, along each of the edges, on both the square pieces simultaneously.
STEP 4:
Take a strip from the upper layer and tie a knot with its corresponding pair in the lower layer of the t-shirt. Continue this process until almost all the strips are knotted. Leave 6-8 pairs of strips unknotted to stuff the pillow.
STEP 5:
Stuff the pillow completely with cotton (or sponge) and make sure it is evenly distributed.
STEP 6:
Now knot the remaining pairs of strips, and your DIY pillow is ready!
TIPS:
- You can also choose plain t-shirts and paint on them using fabric paints and create a self-designed pillow.
- You can also modify their shape! You can create heart-shaped, oval-shaped, rectangular-shaped pillows and much more! You will have to follow the same process as the above with slight changes in step 1 & 2. For all shapes which aren't quadrilaterals, step 2 can be ignored. And in step 1, you will have to cut out the shape you desire your pillow to have.
Hope you found this to be a useful way to prevent your favorite t-shirt from reaching the scrap. Thanks for visiting!
