Reel Of Romance

Looking around the theatre; she felt alone, lost,
Her eyes becoming moist,
She wore her short pretty white dress
And amidst the crowd and noise,
Came his voice,
“Here, my beautiful princess!”

She clutched his hand tighter,
And so, reassured she felt.
And on hearing the popcorn pelt,
She hurried with him to the counter.
Her eyes twinkled brighter,
Seeing the butter on the popcorn melt.

Their seats they occupied,
All set to enjoy their ride.
The movie began
And into her soft hand, his fingers smoothly ran.

Thus the movie began that:

“Once there lived
a girl: quiet n’ pretty.
But whom the world believed –
A bore: mute, not witty.

A shy girl; quite reserved,
The corner was her place to stay,
Insanity buried, kept preserved,
Shown to none who came her way,

Soon, her prince she met,
As did he, his beautiful girl.
Who fell in love with her every curl,
For he was the oyster to this pearl.

‘The time has arrived,’
She thought,
Her fun-loving side no longer had to rot,
Her inhibitions had to be fought.

That day, she felt a joy,
A joy she never felt before.
Freedom was hers to enjoy,
The petty bore not in sight anymore.

This couple was admired many a times:
For whatever may be the times –
Times of bliss or of sorrow
Their love was consistently greater tomorrow..”

“The End” they showed,
After which, followed
An exchange of look and a smile had grown,
They felt, a movie on them had been shown.

On her face,
Rolled down a tear of happiness,
He wiped her face,
And also put back the tress,
Which fell on her face,
And tightly embraced his little princess.

Bon Appétit

“Mommy! What’s for supper tonight?”
Is what you hear every child yell.
The pre-recess rumblings pacing as quickly as light,
Every tummy impatiently waiting to hear the bell.

Anyone alive who doesn’t like food?
Well, I doubt!
Have you never desired to have a cookout?
To get those mushrooms, potatoes and tofu barbecued.
Oh! I hope not!

Waffles with berries n’ maple syrup, or stuffed pancakes?
Or perhaps, a bowl of milk soaking some corn flakes?
With such variety, what’s your choice of breakfast?
The question that would exhaust!

The Italians have given much to the world!
From the spaghetti, around our fork, swirled,
To the lasagna, the thin crust pizza, calzone n’ risotto,
Not to forget, their tiramisu, panna cotta,  and oh! Gelato!

Among our various all time favorites,
Unfailingly, pizza provides the tastiest bites.
Followed by fries, , burgers and tacos,
And also those cheesy beans n’ nachos,
OH! OH! The delicious spaghetti Bolognese!
And the ‘unsure what to eat’ food – Mac n’ Cheese!

And those understated “mouth-watering” desserts!
Where do I even begin!
“You need Chocolate!” our sweet tooth forever asserts,
Be it a cake, a brownie, a cookie, or a muffin!

Here’s a treat for the Indian Food demander:
The hot fluffy Idlies, with the crispy Vada,
Drowned in the delicious steaming hot Sambar,
Also, a good pair with a crisp crisp Dosa.

Those homemade Aloo Parathas topped with Butter,
Butter Naans with Dal Makhani n’ Paneer Mutter,
Oh YUM YUM!
Never to forget, Rajma Chawal and Curd!
The perfect companions for an Indian rainy day:
Lots of Hot Pakode,
With some Masala Chai well stirred.

Enough temptation given, it’s a “wrap” for now. :D

Rowing in Hope

She rises everyday and gets going,
With each day bringing a new adventure,
In the seas of the unknown, keeps rowing,
In the sea, she was to venture.

Neither the vastness of the sea,
Nor its depth,
Nothing let the grin,
On this girl's face, reduce in length.

She kept rowing, rowing ahead,
With such mighty faith and confidence,
Like the directions to her, the seas themselves said,
And Fear, as though, in somnolence.

Fed herself with miniscule meals,
Deriving energy from a fish or two,
Remaining energy - her immense determination reveals,
Proving to be, more than enough, for her to row through.

Her craft received many heavy thrashings,
Many a tempest attempting to hinder,
But nothing strong enough to stop her oars,
To the seas, she wasn't ready to surrender.

Seeking for the slightest sight,
Of land,
The HOPE to see the land,
In her, would never perish.

Life, like the unknown seas,
Demands for faith in the Almighty,
Who has been showing you the way,
Yesterday, today and every other day.
